"R&D/Site Manager – Tel Aviv, Israel We are looking for outstanding R&D Manager for leading an excellent group of developers developing an innovative SaaS (software-as-a-service) web-based software product. The product—utilized by the World's leading manufacturers and retailers (e.g., Microsoft, Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung, L'Oreal)—connects manufacturers and retailers. It lets manufacturers assemble and distribute product information, and lets retailers select, customize and consume the information. The product is developed in Java. The position is intended for an experienced software manager interested in leading the development of a complex multi-component web application, and working with a US- based parent company (Answers.com) to incept and bring to market additional technologies and products. The R&D manager will be reporting to Answers.com's VP of Engineering and CTO, based in Mountain View, California. Responsibilities Managing a group of about 20 SW employees (developers and QA) Owning the development methodologies and ensuring an effective development process. Working closely with the product teams during product design and leading the planning phases. Managing the Webcollage Israel Site, which includes additional groups (Professional Services, Operations, Finance and Administration). Leading the collaboration with other (mostly US-based) development teams at Answers.com as part of a distributed multi-site development organization. Participating in budgeting and human resource planning. Developing a strong and deep leadership talent bench. Building a team with world-class expertise in product development. Implementing the strategic vision for R&D in the organization. Developing and applying innovative approaches to ensure best outcomes in all aspects of the role. "People person", a team player and a strong sense of urgency attitude. Managerial skills – leading characteristic, decisiveness, and devotion to team members' needs. Experience developing complex, Internet web applications, preferably in SaaS model. Familiarity with modern Internet technologies for data management at scale (a.k.a "Big Data"). Preferably, technical background in the Java ecosystem. Preferably, familiarity with continuous software delivery methodologies and tools.
